Gilbert Viardot was an acclaimed French cartoonist, illustrator and humourist. Born in Troyes, he moved to Paris in 1909 where his work appeared in almost every publication. This original gouache is a cover design for Le Frou Frou, a light-hearted, satirical magazine that ran from 1900 to the beginning of the First War.
