The younger brother of Paul Nash (1889–1946), John Nash was one of the most quintessentially English artists of the 20^th Century. Indeed his deeply-felt landscapes perhaps did more than anything else to lend the nation the pastoral vision of home for which it would fight in the Second World War.   This drawing is of the garden at Lane End House, near Princes Risborough in Buckinghamshire where Nash and his wife Christine moved in 1922. The garden was one of the great passions of his life.   John Nash's work has been offered at auction multiple times, the record price being 523,395 USD for A Window in Bucks sold at Christie’s London in 2021.
