Guy Sabran (1902–1984) was a French painter, illustrator and author, best known for his elegant illustrations for fashion, motoring and advertising, as well as for children's books. Born in Saint-Rambert-l'Île-Barbe near Lyon, he studied at the Académie Charpentier in Paris and began his career illustrating fashion magazines including Adam and Vogue. He became particularly noted for his accomplished watercolours and illustrations of automobiles, while also producing numerous commercial advertisements. After the Second World War he became a leading illustrator for the G.P. publishing house, creating illustrations for its popular Rouge et Or series and numerous children's books. St Raphaël Quinquina was a classic French wine-based aperitif in the same broad family as Dubonnet, Byrrh and Lillet. It became particularly fashionable from the late 19th century and was one of France's great Belle Époque drinks. Sabran created his famous 'Twins' for an advertising campaign of the 1930s.
