Who we are

Our website address is: http://jolyonfenwick.com.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, along with the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help with spam detection.

An anonymized string (a hash) created from your email address may be provided to the Gravatar service to determine if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available at https://automattic.com/privacy/. After your comment is approved, your profile picture (if applicable) is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Cookies

If you leave a comment, you may choose to save your name, email address, and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so you don’t have to re-enter your details when leaving another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you visit the login page, a temporary cookie is set to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, several cookies are set to save your login information and screen display preferences. Login cookies last for two days; screen option cookies last for one year. If you select “Remember Me,” your login persists for two weeks. Logging out removes these cookies.

If you edit or publish an article, a cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie contains no personal data and simply records the post ID of the article you edited. It expires after one day.

Embedded content and third-party services

Articles on this site may include embedded content (such as videos, images, or articles). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the same way as if you visited the other website directly.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with the embedded content, including if you have an account and are logged into that website.

This site may also include links to external platforms such as Instagram. These third-party websites have their own privacy policies, and we do not accept any responsibility or liability for their policies.

Analytics

This website may use Google Analytics in the future to collect anonymous data about visitor behaviour and traffic. This helps us understand how visitors use the site and improve the user experience. No personally identifiable data is collected via Google Analytics.

Mailing list

Visitors can subscribe to our email newsletter, managed by Mailchimp. If you choose to sign up, your email address and any additional information you provide will be stored securely by Mailchimp and used only for sending occasional updates.

You can unsubscribe at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email, or by contacting us directly. Mailchimp’s privacy policy is available at https://mailchimp.com/legal/privacy/.

Who we share your data with

If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.

We do not share your personal data with third parties, except where necessary for technical or legal reasons (e.g. comment spam filtering, email delivery).

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely to help us recognise and approve future comments automatically.

For registered users (if any), we store the personal information provided in their user profile. All users can view, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except for their username). Website administrators can also view and edit that information.

Your rights under data protection laws

If you have an account on this site or have left comments, you can request an exported file of the personal data we hold about you. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include data we are required to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where your data is sent

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
