Born in Old Town, Maine, Bernard Langlais is best-known for his dynamic interpretations of the animal world. After a solo show at the Leo Castelli Gallery in 1961, he tired of the New York art scene and returned to Maine where he built a world-famous sculpture park around his home, adopting a daily art-making practice in the spirit of a farmer or homesteader.   Langlais’ work has been offered at auction multiple times, the record price being 15,860 USD for Sheep sold at Barridoff in 2020.
