One of the great (perhaps the greatest) paintings of the Movement for Women’s Suffrage. The statuette appears poised to outstretch; the flowers symbolise the colours of the International Suffragette Movement.   Trained at the Royal College of Art, Amy Browning was a close friend of Sylvia Pankhurst. Together, the two women created the famous exhibition for the Women’s Social and Political Union at the Prince’s Skating Club in 1909. She exhibited regularly at the RA and was commissioned to paint both Winston and Clementine Churchill.   Browning’s work has been offered at auction multiple times, the record price being 29,344 USD for Lady Churchill sold at Sotheby’s in 2014.
