John Northcote Nash (1893–1977) was a British landscape painter, illustrator and printmaker, celebrated for his evocative depictions of the English countryside. Largely self-taught, he developed a distinctive style that combined careful observation with a quiet, poetic sense of place. During the First World War he served in the British Army and later became an Official War Artist, producing some of the conflict's most enduring images. The younger brother of the artist Paul Nash, he was also an accomplished botanical artist and an influential teacher, whose work is represented in major public collections including the Tate and the Imperial War Museums. John Northcote Nash’s work has been offered at auction multiple times, the record price being 523,395 USD for A Window in Bucks sold at Christie’s, London in 2021.
