Joan Cardona was a Spanish painter and draughtsman whose work helped define the Belle Èpoque aesthetic. His famous fin-de-siecle Parisian scenes, radiating – and in part satirizing – the rarefied glamour of the period, led contemporary critics to speak of it as ‘the Cardona Style.’

Cardona’s work has been offered at auction multiple times, the record price being 17,135 USD for Collage 22 sold at Balcis in 2018.
