Hand-embroidered, early 19th century Croatian ‘dowry’ wall-hanging of homespun linen with handmade crochet lace (newly-laid on yellow velvet) traditionally given to the bride on the occasion of and as a blessing on her wedding. The panel was designed to hang at the head of her marital bed and confer good fortune on the newly-married couple.
