Dame Elisabeth Jean Frink was one of the most important British artists of the post-war period. Her Times obituary noted the three essential themes in her work as “the nature of Man; the ‘horseness’ of horses; and the divine in human form”.

Frink’s work has been offered at auction multiple times, the record price being 1,838,533 USD for Seated Man sold at Christie’s London in 2014.
