Lucienne Pageot-Rousseaux was a French illustrator, painter and graphic artist renowned for creating works depicting dancers and athletes in motion, paring an image and its motion down to its essentials with a remarkable economy of simple, elegant lines.
Luciana Savignano (1943-) was born in Milan and trained at the Ballet School of La Scala and at the Bolshoi in Moscow. She gained critical acclaim in Europe with the Maurice Béjart’s Ballet of the 20th Century in New York in 1976 during which this sketch was made.
