Lomenech Gill, working from her studios in Northumberland, is a traditional engraver and printer with a background in literary illustration. She was commissioned by Michael Morpurgo to design the signature poster for the theatrical production of War Horse, received with great acclaim. For her research, Olivia stayed with King’s Troop, Royal Horse Artillery at their London barracks and stables. Both horse and soldier depicted in the design were serving with the Troop. Olivia has since designed and illustrated for J K Rowling and other high-profile writers. She also produced a limited number of bronze sculptures of the War Horse image, all now in private collections.
