Trained at Brooklyn College & NYU, Morris Kronfeld was a modernist painter and draftsman who spent the whole of his ninety-six year life in New York. His work – almost invariably lovely to look at – reflected a number of influences from Matisse and Miro to Dali and Chinese calligraphy. Elements of Pop Art latterly appeared. A famously passionate and evangelical art teacher, he subordinated his own career in favour of his generations of students, only painting and (apparently reluctantly) exhibiting during the summer recess.
