Pastel, chalk and pencil on paper; signed and dated lower right ‘I W Cardamatis 40’ and signed, dedicated and dated on the reverse ‘to my Robin – Wolfgang Cardamatis 1945’.

Ioannis Wolfgang Kardamatis was a German/Greek painter and sculptor. He famously created the bronze carved and gilded gate to the Villa Iolas in Agia Paraskevi, Athens.

Kardamatis’ work has been offered at auction multiple times, the record price being 27,526 USD for Gold Squares sold at Sotheby’s in 2017.
